[1591] Serenata Nel Vuoto (Chapter #?) [Space Opera]
Hello all,
This is a middling chapter somewhere in the meanderings of a space opera about a literal opera with themes of music, language, and the entertainment industry in a post-scarcity galactic civilization.

Book Summary:
A galactic encyclopedian, Astrocurator Kai Lavisa, investigates the alleged suicide of her esteemed colleague—a famed musician and artistic polymath by the name of Idris Dal Reeve. Kai makes landfall on Les Selines, a world of excess and extravagance, that orbits the gas giant known colloquially as, "The Eye." In the bedlam of a worldwide party celebrating the completion of the hundred years long Interstellar Grand Prix, Kai samples the enigmatic and eclectic culture, cuisines, and people of the planet as she navigates a cold case from new lead to new lead. Unbeknownst to her, she closes in on her colleague's ultimate demise revealing a complex web of conspiracy and a simple opera that threatens to upset the galactic order. Meanwhile, The Eye sees all.
Chapter Title: Another Day at the Office
This chapter appears somewhere in the middle. It's about the only expository piece in a book that otherwise follows very tightly to our characters and the mystery at hand, and the whole first half up to this chapter is written to create a culture shock. Almost as if you were dropped in the middle of someone's day on the other side of the galaxy. There's virtually no context around the various actors, their factions, and their motivations.
So the purpose of this chapter is two-fold: 1) formally introduce two factions and their relationship that are alluded to in earlier chapters and anchor them in some of the only cold, hard facts, and 2) introduce some characters that will appear later to help our protagonist solve her mystery.
Feedback Solicited:
Looking for feedback on the general concept, as well as writing, descriptive, and general style feedback. Not really looking for character feedback as there's not much to speak of here, but open to it. Would love to know how this all feels; does it build tension, does it contextualize, does the dialogue make sense, is it too much, is it dumb, etc. Is there anything of value here at all?
