Widescreen gaming build based around 4070 Ti Super

Build Help

I've had my current PC, more or less, since 2012, so it's overdue for an upgrade. (Still running an old i7-2600K CPU, paired with an RX-590 GPU. It's good enough for 1080p gaming if you turn down some settings.)

The big priority: I would like to move to a widescreen monitor at 3440x1440 resolution. I know I should save up for something at 144 Hz but it's probably going to be an LG model with only a 100 Hz refresh rate for now.

I want a mid-range CPU and GPU combo that will allow me to make the most of that monitor without breaking the bank, basically. Not too loud, not too power-hungry, but able to get somewhere between 60 to 100 FPS at 3440x1440 in most current-gen games on high or ultra settings.

I'll be donating my old machine to a family member so this new build will be total: new case, new everything. I don't care about LCDs or anything like that. I don't care if the parts are black, white, or chartreuse: as long as they pump out good frame rates.

I play mostly single-player stuff: KSP, Satisfactory, Factorio, Flight Simulator 2020, a few racing and rally games, etc. I don't need the high framerates that competitive online shooters demand. Very occasionally I'll do some video-editing or Blender or something, but if I'm honest the use case is 95% gaming. I've tried to choose the parts with this in mind.

And I'm in Turkey, so I've got access to PC parts stores, but they don't have quite the range that a MicroCenter or somewhere like that would have. Also prices are pretty expensive here due to import taxes: maybe 35% above US prices?

Budget would be about $2000 if I was in the US. Due to expensive local prices I'll probably end up spending more like $2850 equivalent. Wanting to buy and build the thing within the next few weeks.

Here's the PC Parts Picker link to my planned build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FVwrn6

I have the usual questions: does these parts look reasonable? Am I over- or under-spending anywhere? Am I overdoing it on the motherboard, in particular?

On the GPU I had a very tough time choosing between a 4070 Ti S and the 7900XT. Like a lot of people here, I think. Maybe I'd like ray-tracing in my games and maybe I won't, who knows?

Anyway, would really appreciate any thoughts.

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-13400F 2.5 GHz 10-Core

  • CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition 42 CFM. (In fact I'm thinking of starting out with the factory-supplied cooler for the CPU and upgrading to this if temps look too hot. Is that a bad plan?)

  • Motherboard: MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX LGA1700 (Is this more than I need?)

  • Memory: Crucial Pro 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-5600 CL46 (Too fast? Too slow?)

  • Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME (I like these; have been happy with a Samsung 980 Evo upgrade on my old build. Might get a second one later to have more storage.)

  • Video Card: Zotac GAMING Trinity GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB Video Card (Spending a little more to get a 3x fan version over the 2x to keep it quieter)

  • Case: MSI MAG FORGE 320R AIRFLOW ATX Mid Tower Case (Case comes with 4 x 120mm fans I believe. Seems like reasonable airflow but I'm no expert)

  • Power Supply: Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 - V2 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (I think this is enough, right? Especially as I decided not to go with the power-hungrier 7900XT.)

  • Monitor: LG 35BN75CN-B 35.0" 3440 x 1440 100 Hz Curved (or something very similar -- budget won't stretch to the 144 Hz version but maybe one day)
