Previous Strandings and Voidouts

SpoilerDiscussion

It just occurred to me, we learn that this Death Stranding and subsequent mass extinction aren't the first in Earth's history. You'd think that, lacking advanced tech such as BBs, animals would get caught in Voidouts en masse, severely altering the shape of the landscape.

But actually no, the Timefall would pretty much kill anything that even approaches a BT. Animals don't have plastic capes or Timefall shelters. It is entirely possible that humans are the first cases of Voidouts.

But then how do aquatic life forms in the presumed first DS look like? What about a DS in a rainforest, where Timefall might be dampened by the trees? Or is the current DS unique due to Amelie/Sam? Couldn't an EE like that have existed in prehistoric times as well?

It's fun to speculate.
