Question for From veterens

Hey all. Elden Ring is my first soulslike and quickly became one of my all time favs. Like everyone else, I'm excited for the DLC. I have one question about it though and I'm hopeful that there's insight based on previous Fromsoft titles.

It's clear that the primary content (new areas, bosses, etc.) is end game or post game. I'm curious about the secondary content (new loot). Adding entirely new weapon types would usually be sprinkled into the primary game by a typical studio. But Fromsoft is not a typical studio. Plus Elden Ring is not exactly built for that by default since chests always have the same thing and enemies are very specific about what they can drop.

I ask because I'm curious if I would be better off having a character ready to go do the new endgame stuff or if I should start a fresh playthrough with the DLC installed. I'll probably complete a run or two between now and then anyways but I'd still like to plan for the DLC.

Special note in case it matters. I dont really do NG+ and prefer to start fresh with each run. Thanks.
