Wig tip

Discussion

Tip for people among us that wear wigs and don't want (or can't) shell out a lot of money yet, or just want to try cheaper wigs.

I found it in yesterday's Washington Post in an article about actors wearing wigs in movies. (gift link).

It's presented as an interactive test, but after you click the 'tests' a lot of informative text is displayed about wigs.

This is a GREAT tip by a professional wig specialist that might be useful to us:

In productions where a custom wig can’t be made, there are some tricks to help a cheaper hairpiece look better. “Generally, it’s tweezing out 40 to 50 percent of the hair to make it look not so dense around the crown. The amount of hair that comes on a standard wig because they’re machine-made — it’s plugged in so many areas, it’s like a Barbie head,” Dagenais said.

So basically altering a wig to more resemble a thinning head of hear, appropriate for us older people.

Just wanted to share, might be useful to some.
