The friend(28mtf) of my husband is planning on basically naming herself a slur unknowingly. What do I do?

She has been looking for a good name for a while.

She told us last week that she had found the perfect name.

It's Marica. Obviously where she got it from it means goddess. But in Spanish, specifically colombian Spanish it means "faggot".

Now why is that a big deal? People constantly have names that mean different things. She is moving to Medellin at the end of this year.

I am not super close to her. So I don't know how to broach this subject. Specifically because she is very sensitive.

And of I do t say anything, it's gonna be worse in the long run.

Hoe should indeal with this?
