Canadian Conservatives: What makes you think Pierre Poilievre would actually make a good PM?

Politician or Public Figure

I was recently visiting my conservative parents and the obvious topic of candidate competency came up.

My grand-father, outright and unprompted, acknowledged that Poilievre doesn't have really any outstated policies or action plans to fix the issues that he says Trudeau has caused (aside from some comments on housing and "axe the tax"). Later in the conversation he outright stated he thinks Poilievre would make a great PM and didn't elaborate on why. This was confusing because, from my POV, these two statements are irreconcilable outside of plain old bias.

-He's a career politician, despite railing against them
-Despite holding seven terms as an MP (which he's argued shouldn't be possible) has 0 to show for it
-He actively voted against his gay father's chance at marriage equality
-His dubious advocacy for investment in crypto that he's since swept under the rug
-His close ties with people who are current and/or former Loblaws Lobbyists
-Voted against several motions to call the government to increase supply to housing as early as 2014 and as recent as 2019
-Was apart of the Harper government that signed the 31 year FIPA with China

The only appeal he seems to have is to people who are too consumed with anger towards Trudeau and the Carbon Tax to care about anything else. Eerily similar to how Trump won in 2016.
