Is the redmi note 12 4g a good upgrade over the redmi note 7 both 4gb ram versions

Using the redmi note 7 for nearly 5 yrs, battery is getting a bit weak and the volume rocker gets stuck so thinking of upgrading.

Is the redmi note 12 4g any good? The camera looks worse than the redmi note 7 when looking on the gsmarena comparison tool.

Any other alternatives in this price range or just thoughts?
