Trying to make a decision

Question

So, last night I carried my 2019 16" i9 MBP under my arm and opened it up to find a glowing crack on the screen and a display that doesn't work.

I know that the machine is basically done for. Everything is backed up and I am realistic about the value of the computer and the dismal cost/benefit ratio of repairing it. The waste of it. It was a nice laptop and plenty fast for the household basic uses it had been used for lately.

I am pretty sure I am looking at a replacement for this machine. Don't need anything too muscular, but I want to be as future-proof as possible. I am not too price sensitive, but anything that sort of scratches the same itches as my broken laptop puts me pretty close to $3k.

What would you guys suggest? Go down in screen size? Keep 1TB storage? I do "dock" to a 32" 4k/144MHz monitor, so it would be nice if the machine could play nice with this.

My "workflow" (this is mainly a personal/home computer, I do WFH quite a bit but I have a PC built for this - my apps are painfully PC-exclusive). So, editing photos, occasional light 3D modeling (3d printing is a hobby) and similar stuff.

One more question: Is the M-chip security flaw something that I should be concerned about? Is the M3 free of this issue?
