Changing Summer Credit Hours

So I initially filled out the summer interest form and I was going to take 9 hours for the summer, but then I got my FAFSA offer and it isn't enough to cover all 9 hours but it is enough for 6 hours. I was wondering what would happen if I only took 6 hours instead. Would they reduce my Financial Aid? I got offered the pell grant and the UNT tuition grant as well as the parent loans but my parents don't qualify for that so I was hoping that Financial Aid just takes away the loans if I do 6 hours.
