Memorial Day BBQ kicks off with name calling!

My in-laws were in town for Memorial Day weekend and we had a BBQ on Monday for our extended family at our house. Now my FIL especially loves to just say mean things and go “What. It was a joke.”

Anyway, I’m chilling on the back deck with my two nephews, who are 16 and 19. We’re chatting and eating chips and dip. Boomer in-laws walk in and go “Oh look at the piggies! Oink oink oink”. MIL makes a pig face and acts out pig sounds. Wtf. They haven’t even sat down at this point.

Anyway, I immediately say “hey NOT ok!” To my nephew’s credit, he responds with “that’s really unkind and rude. Please don’t do that.” In-laws huff and puff and basically go “we do what we want”. Nephew goes “well there’s no need to behave like assholes”. MIL puffs out like a puffer fish and goes “I am not an asshole and never have been.” Well to paraphrase Forest Gump, “asshole is as asshole does.”

Nephew removes himself from the situation and goes to watch TV in the house.

But nooo. The boomers weren’t done! FIL follows nephew in the house and yells at him about respecting his elders.

THEN he corrals my husband who was happily unaware, prepping food in the kitchen. He tells this massive tall tale about how he and MIL simply asked the kids to pass the chips and they told them to fuck off and called MIL a bitch for no reason.

TL;DR - boomer in-laws fucked around and found out. Didn’t like the results. Told complete lies to cover up.
