What's your favorite music player?
I've been looking around for a good music player but there are so many, its difficult to choose which is the best. So, what does r/androidapps prefer?

Shuttle. Its UI is similar to Google Play Music, but cleaner and nicer looking. It has a couple additional features like EQ, sleep timer, and searching for album covers.
It has a pretty high potential. Only other thing I want out of it is play-by-folder, which I think the maker is going to add in eventually.
Also, I do believe the maker is an active redditor somewhere
I'm here! I missed this thread..
Yep, working on folder browsing, still a few weeks away..
Also my S3 switches from headphones to speakers sometimes, but I think you also know about that one too. Love it so far, keep it up! :)
I do, but I am trying really hard to fix it!
Thanks for the recommendation, from the developer!
I swear I'm the only guy that uses Google Play Music.
Do the others interact with the online storage that play music uses?
I use that too. No other players can without root and an app called GMusicFS.
There is a modified version of play music though that looks much better in white and with just a few small changes.
I only use it because of the streaming. Having my entirely library available at my fingertips (95% of the time), without having to bother with syncing, is an awesome feature that makes me look past the downsides.
It's my primary player. If it weren't for the streaming though...yeah...I'd probably use something else.
I like Google Play Music, but the crappy widget (from which I control about 90% of the program) and the awful random are deal killers for me.
Google music doesn't work well for me.
I'm using right now this player. It's a very clean and minimalist player based on Google now theme. It's called noe playing. Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.underwood.now_playing
I used the old version and really liked it, but for some reason the dev made a new version on the play store and removed the version Id already paid for. Id love to have kept on using it but I didn't want to pay twice.
You're supposed to be able to get a refund for the original version by contacting him directly, but after three ( quite polite i might add) attempts in as many weeks with zero response, I figured id move on. I know its not that much money, but i just can't get past feeling a little peeved at the quasi bait n switch.
Has anyone here gotten a refund for the original perchance? I really would love to get back into it.
I've got the same issue.
Right now I'm using Google l Play music and keeping all my song on Google listen ;)
Doubletwist
I prefer my player GoneMAD Music Player
I've been using your player for a month or two (since it was on sale) but there are (or i have) so many issues with it compared to poweramp. I should write them down sometime instead of being lazy. The feature keeping me using it despite those issues is that it can play random music when a playlist is finished.
please email me any issues at gonemadsoftware@gmail.com Based on the reports I get the app is pretty bug free.. so this is news to me
edit: most "issues" are just preferences not set to your liking. There are a lot of things to tweak.. i try to set up the defaults based on the feedback I get.. but the defaults are not the best for everyone
Cheers. I'd looked for a bug tracker but hadn't found one. I'll hopefully mail them in soon.
ive been using this for about a month, and its pretty good. but it crashes, (or locks up rather), every so often and i have to force quit the app and restart. i have about 6k songs in my library and am on a gs3. have you experienced or heard of this happening to others?
not during playback. There have been cases in the past where if the player is left idle for a long time it freezes when you turn it back on. Most of them have been ironed out (so be sure you are on the latest version). I did find one other instance that i have fixed in the next update
Now with custom roms and playing m4a files there are some known issues due to opensl being buggy on many custom roms..which unfortunately is out of my control. If you are mainly mp3 than be sure to go to prefs -> playback -> uncheck opensl. A few versions ago I turned it off by default but if u've been using the player for awhile it may still be on
Finally from time to time i'll get emails about updates breaking playback, when the update they are referring to were strictly UI bug fixes or something completely unrelated to playback.. and those issues get fixed with a uninstall/reinstall of the app. Its almost as if the android updater corrupt something in the app during the update
hmm. i will try to uninstall/reinstall. it happens during playback and short idles - transitioning between screens/apps.
i am not using a custom rom and play m4a and mp3
alright.. well if it still crashes (and you are not rooted), we will probably have to wait til the gs3 updates to 4.2.2 in order to figure out the issue. 4.1 made it next to impossible to get logs without having root. Once updated to 4.2.2 there is a bug report option in the developer options that lets you email all the system logs to a dev. I'd most likely be able to see the cause of the crash with that
glorious music player. Shame I don't know how to create smart playlists. Could do with a tutorial
smart playlists are pretty straight forward.. you could find any tutorial online for itunes or player pro and it would be very similar. You set up rules and all the songs that match the rules end up in the smart playlist

christian alvestam was such a good vocalist. i was so bummed when he left the band but the 2 replacements ended up being pretty good

Google Music for me, does everything I need and has access to all my songs on my PC and the cloud
Now Playing. It's very new to the Play Store and the developer, Jack Underwood, makes constant improvements and feature additions. Also, it's google now Holo themed :)
Nexmusic
NexMusic is great! With the transparent theme for the app + the transparent widget + the Holo Glass Theme (Beta), the appeal is beautiful :P.
I've been using Clean Music player. It's small & simple. It has shuffle. That's all I need.
n7player has a great and simple interface and works really well with the biking app I use.
Its features are great too.
Playerpro
I like to have my music in playlists of instrumental and with vocals, to accomplish this on several computers and also keep track of what albums are "being tested" to see if I like them I organize them in subfolders.
I've tested out several of them and today finally found one that would allow me to add a folder+ subfolders to playlists. It's called Vanilla Music, source is here: https://github.com/adrian-bl/vanilla and market link is": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.blinkenlights.android.vanilla
I specifically prefer that it is Open Source to avoid being profiled by data mining companies.
That used to be my favorite player before Music Folder Player. I encourage everybody to use it not only because its open source, but because it's great.
I see several Music Folder Player. which one do you mean so I can test it out?
PlayerPro. I've been using it since I got my first Droid a while ago. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tbig.playerpro
I only use folder-based players because that's how I organize my music in the first place, and I love audiobooks, radio show rips, etc.
I love this player because it solves the problem of crappy scrubbing on Android, and it caters to people like myself who listen to loooooong audio files.

Winamp
n7
I think he meant app Edit: don't worry, didn't know there was a music player called N7

Poweramp, by far
By far the best. It's sound options alone are worth the price but it also has a great interface.
^edit: ^Sp.
I second this, with the ICS skin. Looks and sounds great.
Wow, that's a fantastic skin! Thanks, I'll be using that from now on.
