Using water and your measuring cup, figure our how much the bowls and glasses in your home hold. It'll be much easier knowing your bowls are 1 quart than it is to measure out 4 cups over and over for that big recipe.

Another way is to weigh the bowls etc when full of water.
To go along with this, most Tupperware/offbrand has markings on the bottom for how much each thing holds. I've found this to be really helpful when making things like jello.
