Sonnet to Madeleine
My courage fails me, no evasion dear,
As love enthrals my heart, I feel lost still,
Do these fine eyes of splendour want me near?
Do I want to commit to her own will?
In admiration I can only stare,
Engulfed by boundless beauty all around,
Impressed by golden locks that are her hair,
Lively, her voice in its defining sound,
Oh, Cupid, fine angel, give me some hope,
Vacate my poor mind and let me rethink,
Even if my love is hanging by rope,
You can’t comprehend I am on the brink,
Of love so true for you, Hell I’d go through,
Uttering these words, Maddie, I love you.
The first line is from an opera we were both in were she was my wife in it. Also once read I recommend reading the first letter of each line and putting them together. Hope you enjoy!
