Can't change the source on TV anymore. What could be the problem?

Solved

Hi!

My HDTV stopped working a couple weeks ago. I can turn it ON using the buttons on the side, but not with the remote control. That's all I can do. If I press the source button on the TV, it shows the settings menu but I can't navigate through it. It doesn't work with my Harmony remote either.

When I looked on the internet, the main board appeared to be the origin of a lot of problems so I ordered a new one. I got it today, installed it, but it still doesn't work.

My tv is a Samsung LN32B360C5D and the main board is BN96-11408A.

I really don't know what to do now... any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks

Well, I doubt both of your remotes are defective, but the IR receiver could be defective.

Or just obstructed, I have seen one that got a bug inside it.

It's possible that one of the physical buttons on the TV got somehow permanently stuck in the "pressed" state (maybe one of the contacts got somehow permanently bridged). Depending on the logic on the mainboard this could cause it to selectively ignore other instructions.

I unplugged the buttons from the IR board and it works! That was so simple. I can't use them anymore, but I never did so it's not a problem. I'll order a replacement part soon.

Thanks!

Holy crap, I can't believe I got that one right. That was a total shot in the dark. LOL.
