Bunnyproofing carpets

I recently let my bunny girls roam my entire apartment. Previously they had a large portion of my living room in an x-pen. I caught them tugging up the corner of the carpet in my hall last night and I'm wondering what you guys recommend for protecting these spots. They don't really dig or yank on carpet anywhere except room corners!

I'm also curious how you recommend protecting wood surfaces. I have some cheapie unfinished wood shelves and tables from IKEA and would like to keep them from chomping down too much. I heard about swabbing them with white vinegar--do you folks find this to be successful?

Thanks in advance! I'll be sure to post photos of my girls later.

I used to put carpet scraps but realized it backfired on me since it still led them to dig on carpet in general in random ass corners. You can try just overlaying it with sacrificial carpet scraps.

However, what I do now is either put a phone book, cardboard piece, grass mat, or weighed down clothing in those corners. You can't stop the bunnies from digging and chewing completely, so aim to distract and redirect.

I'm also curious how you recommend protecting wood surfaces.

In general, the method is to wipe something that tastes bad to discourage chewing. Every rabbit is different. Options you can try are hot sauce, vinegar, plain Ivory soap, lemon juice, bitter apple spray, and more.

Two things that worked for us: putting blankets down on those spots and giving them other things they might want to chew on. White vinegar works okay in concert with the other stuff.

I bought a roll of cheap vinyl flooring and put it down in the corners that seem to offend them.
