EAD/ AOS Lawyer says $4700?
Okay I don’t know how complex my situation is but I need advice from people on here.
My Opt EAD expires in Jan 2025 while I am Fully employed, my employer isn’t on everify and unfortunately I can’t extend my stem opt.
The other option is getting married as I and my fiancé have been engaged for 4 months now. We plan on getting married by the end of October and I want to file for my AOS by early November and also an EAD. I’ll also want to expedite the EAD. My employer has an immigration lawyer that is charging me $4700 as her attorney fee to get everything done. This doesn’t include the filing fee or anything.
She also suggested I wait till 30 days after filling my GC to apply to expedite the process.
Also I moved recently for a new job and my fiancé hasn’t gotten any here yet so he’s still back home. We have bank accounts and leases that we have just gotten as initially we were planning to get married next year.
Do you guys think I should use the lawyer or do it myself? I don’t know I’m so stressed just thinking about this.
Thank you all and I hope you engage this post as I need all the opinions and advice i can get.
