I’m building a mobile wellness brand in the Bay Area focused on curated experiences rather than traditional classes.
Instead of a physical studio, we host small group sessions (Pilates, movement, etc.) paired with social and lifestyle elements for example, Pilates + winery experiences, community-based events, and eventually retreats.
The goal is to build a strong, intentional community, not just run classes.
For those with experience in fitness, wellness, or community-driven businesses:
What actually drives retention in experience-based models vs traditional classes?
What have you seen work (or fail) when trying to build real community, not just attendance?
Any insights on scaling this
