After 4 years, plus another month, I've finished my all-rhyming novel and just wanted to thank the self-published community for your advice and help.
You may remember, but likely won't, that a few week ago I posted to /writingadvice asking for a critique of my latest book. Long story short, the book rhymed but wasn't selling. The community let me have it, both barrels and rightly so. I'd created a book that was neither prose nor poetry, it failed lovers of crafted sentences and broke the minds of those who get a buzz from the art of rhyme. Not ideal. Ha.
I went back to the drawing board, so to speak, implemented the advice that worked and ditched what didn't. Now the rhyme is working and the book flows. After 4 years I've finally got something that pleases lovers of prose and poetic beat.
Like the title says, I just wanted to thank all those who commented and took their time to steer my ship to better seas. So, thank you.
And to any self-published author lurking out there with questions or concerns about why their novel isn't selling, my advice is to post your book and ask for the self-published community to set it on fire.
From the ashes something better might just rise*.
*But please wear your thickest skin, or you may end up in a little crying mess in the corner. ha.
