RCS chats stopped working - what to do after 10 day wait period has passed?

My RCS chats stopped working after I switched carriers and insterted the SIM card before it switched back to my original number, so the temporary number somehow took over and screwed everything up. Basically it was stuck on "setting up...trying to verify"

I've turned off RCS chats, and the setting has been turned off for about a month (they say you need to wait at least 10 days).

My question is, can I just turn RCS back on, and if it doesn't work, then try all these steps:

Switch Sim cards, auto verification, airplane mode, clear data and force stop google messages and carrier services, wifi off, mobile data only, unpair and/or deregister messages account with the number.

Or should I do all those steps first, as to not screw something up, ie. If I don't do these steps, it will possibly reset the 10 day wait period?

On myaccount.google.com/phone, Auto verification was turned on, and says that it is still pending? I have turned it off just now, but should I have turned that off a month ago?
