The melody of 'The Pimp and The Priest' is part of the bassline from the Final Boss Theme of Sonic 2

I was looking for some Sonic 2 songs to learn on guitar, and the Final Boss theme caught my attention. I found the tab and decided to play each instrument part separately. Then, at the end of the bassline, specifically at 0:35, I heard a familiar melody: https://youtu.be/jrvDx-jWwWA?t=35
Please tell me you guys hear the same thing, or am I going crazy?
