Anyone become less social after getting on meds?
Every since getting on Lamotrigine and Bupropion a few months ago, I have found myself feeling more stable than ever. I no longer feel the need to reach out to friends for emotional support to stop myself from spiraling into deeply troubling thoughts about myself. This is a good thing, but it has led me to neglect some friendships that I once highly valued. The incident that led me to seek medication resulted in me cutting things off with a friend of mine that I felt I had overwhelmed with my clinginess. I felt deeply guilty for having leaned on her for emotional support to the extent I had, and my mental health declined to the point where I could tell she was overwhelmed.
Two nights ago, I forgot to take my nightly dose of lamotrigine. I knew this could be a problem, but since I didn't notice until late the next morning, I decided to not make up for the dose. Around to 20 hour mark of not getting my normal dose of lamotrigine, I found myself getting quite emotional over this situation. I felt regret over this cut off friendship, and I felt a desire to reconnect, apologize and see if they're still upset, or if they ever were upset. Once I took my regularly scheduled dose, all of these feelings went away, and I returned to my nowadays usual state of not caring anymore.
I wonder if my meds are causing me to neglect friendships. I find myself enjoying social events less than I used to. I feel more cynical about other people, particularly women. I've been looking forward to increases in lamotrigine doses to help blot out the pain I've felt for the last couple of years, but it's possible it's also causing me to neglect fixing the issues that led me feeling that way. I'm not opposed to continuing to take lamotrigine, but I wonder if my 100 mg dose is too high for me.
