I [29F] have a cold sore and am disappointed I won’t be able to kiss my partner [30M] for New Year’s

I understand how silly this sounds, but maybe I need someone to give me a gentle dose of reality.

Last night, I suspected a cold sore on the way. I applied my cold sore patch and woke up this morning with the cold sore.

I’m upset because I had fun plans to go out with my friends and my partner, and obviously kiss my partner during the countdown. I had booked a non-refundable 5-star hotel room in Beverly Hills for after, so we don’t have to worry about the expensive Uber back home and can celebrate 2025 (plus the first year of my 30s) in a big way. It will also be my first New Year with my partner where we are official and we’ve been dating for a while, so it adds to how special this would’ve been. I even wanted to have dinner by myself at the Beverly Hills hotel, but am rather self-conscious about my cold sore. I’m not even sure I want my partner to stay in the hotel with me anymore because of my cold sore; if he stays, I’ll likely wear a mask. I’ve had a cough for over 5 weeks now and haven’t seen my friends for the most part, and was really looking forward to getting cute and dressed up. I barely just recovered in time, and now this :/ First-world problems, I apologize.

I plan on taking Vitamin C, using my cold sore patches, and drinking lots of water daily. But how do I get over my disappointment so I can still somewhat enjoy New Year’s Eve/Day?

TLDR: I have a cold sore and can’t kiss my partner. How do I still enjoy NYE?
