Could anyone want to help me devise a workout plan?
I would love y’all’s input on crafting a workout schedule that meets my needs and preferences. My gym is really nice and offers loads of high-quality group fitness classes that I attend as often as possible, but I haven’t seen many physical results in the two years I’ve been a member. I’m ready to craft a plan and get serious (and get my money’s worth!), and I’d love your help. Apologies for being long-winded!
Stats
- 29F
- 5’2” (157 cm)
- currently somewhere between 115-120 lbs (52-54.5 kg). I try not to weigh myself very frequently.
- I’m a full-time student and thus need to maximize my time in the gym.
Goals
- lose body fat
- increase muscle mass
- be slim-fit, agile, energetic, flexible
(I’ve historically been under-muscled!)
Diet
- In the past two years, I recovered from orthorexia, anorexia and BED, in that order, but am still trying to get a handle on overeating.
- I try to be mindful of my hunger levels and make wise decisions regarding nutrition content (I understand the importance of whole foods and protein) but otherwise don’t feel comfortable tracking calories or macros.
- I want to shift my focus away from what and how I eat to how I move my body.
Movement
- I really struggle with choosing what to fit into my workout schedule, and how to make it work with what is scientifically recommended (e.g., x number of minutes of zone 2 cardio per week, etc.)
- I enjoy doing so many things and have a hard time choosing! Yoga feels really good. I like Pilates and barre.
- I am comfortable using weight machines, but am shy when it comes to free weights so I’d prefer to avoid those.
- My latest blood panel indicated borderline high cholesterol, which scared me - there are a couple of bad hearts in my family. So I should get adequate cardio, right? But running hurts my knees and I don’t always feel like it. I like cycling classes though! I take frequent leisurely walks around my city too.
- And I should probably get in at least one HIIT class a week.
I can work out on Sundays, but would like to take Saturday off. :)
If you were in my sneakers, what would you do?
