How much to invest in synthetic brushes?

question?

I'm a beginner to oil painting, transitioning from using colored pencils as my main medium. I've done a few acrylic paintings before, but have used very low quality brushes (a craft pack from Michael's) and I'm looking to upgrade to a decent set. I know bristle brushes are the standard for oil painting, but I don't use animal products so I'm on the hunt for good quality synthetics.

I've been researching brushes and from what I understand, they won't hold up as well as natural bristled brushes, and the quality of synthetic bristles doesn't vary as wildly between brands as much as natural fibers do. That being said, I have a few questions about synthetics:

•How long do synthetic brushes usually last you?

•What is a good price point for synthetics? (Meaning, what's the approximate cut off between cheap in quality vs affordable but nice, and what's the line for "too expensive for what it does?")

•Are there any brands/lines you recommend?

My budget isn't too high, but I'm definitely willing to invest a bit in brushes that are good quality and will last me a while!
