Two Android Phones One Pebble

Question

Hi all, I know that the Bluetooth on the Pebble does not support multipoint connections, so there is no way to have one Pebble talking directly to two phones.

That said... I have two Android phones (one work, one personal.) Does anyone know of any apps or configuration tricks so that notifications could get sent from phone 1 to phone 2 to the Pebble? Is this something which it would be possible to write an app for or would the Android implementation of Bluetooth prevent this?

You could totally do this with Tasker. It is possible to send messages automatically between 2 phones using Tasker. In fact, you can set it up so 2 phones 'talk' to each other and share information. There may be a way to forward notifications from one phone to the next, then use Pebble Notifier to push those sent notifications to the Pebble.

It is, in principle, possible if the two phones have Internet access. You can even hack something together yourself.

If you create an Android app that pings ifttt.com whenever you receive a notification, then using ifttt you can easily pass that on to the phone that's actually connected to the Pebble.

It's a bit of a messy setup but having two phones is fairly messy to begin with ;-)

Ooh, I'd not thought of ifttt - that's a great idea. I was thinking purely in terms of Bluetooth (which will save battery life and data use.) I agree about two phones being messy, but dual sim phones are hard to come by!

The data use is pretty minimal if you ask me. We're talking about kBs per month at most.

If you wanna have a look at how to create an accessibility service on Android (you need one to capture notifications system-wide), you can have a look at this app I created: https://github.com/etiago/WeChatPebble
