Road trip advice for Toronto to Winnipeg

Making my first drive from Toronto to Winnipeg in May for a family wedding. Just wondering what to expect from the Canada-side drive for anyone that’s done it before. Would you do the trip in 2 or 3 days that time of year? Any suggestions about where to stop, gas up, stay, etc. would be much appreciated. (Asking about the Ontario route only b/c I’m trans and travelling thru the US just isn’t an option for me right now.)
