Admitted for 24 hours of Monitoring and Now Likely to be Here Until I Give Birth - Advice on How to Pass Time
Needing advice, which I'll start with and then explain the situation in more details below. What on earth have/do people done to occupy themselves at hospital? I've only been here for 4 days and it's driving me insane. I've been doing puzzle books, scrolling socials, watching TV, talking to friends/family, and my partner visits for a good few hours daily, but I'm just getting so bored. I'm likely going to be stuck here for another 2.5 weeks and would love any suggestions on how to pass the time 😭
As the title says, I was admitted for a 24 hour monitoring period due to my blood pressure being elevated (150/105) after having already been in and out for monitoring the previous 3 days and 2 days the week prior. The hold was to see how I responded to the blood pressure medication to see if we could get it down to a manageable level, but so far we are not succeeding :(
It's been almost 48 hours now and they've tried two different dosages and my baseline BP is getting worse, even medicated, my baseline BP is almost exactly 140/90 (borderline hypertensive) and on the medication I've been on in the last 12 hours it's only been dropping to 140/78 at its lowest.
At this stage I've been given compression socks and told to buckle in for the long haul, possibly up until they can deliver the baby full-term at 37 weeks (or earlier if it progresses to an emergency).
Feeling very defeated and hopeless. Up until 32w I'd had a very uneventful pregnancy, and now at 34w+5 shit has just hit the fan. And advice would be appreciated, TIA ❤️
