AITAH overstepping in-laws edition
Yesterday, husband (m36) and I (f30) went to his parents’ house with our two year old. Husband shortly leaves to get our shared vehicle inspected.
In the meantime toddler had pooped her pants but her bag with change of clothes and diapers was in the vehicle. Mother in law continued to tell me that the child needed to be changed. I explained that I didn’t have what was needed and was waiting for husband to return. It happened another 3x — Each time I had the same response. The child was not smelly and I didn’t see what the big deal was waiting the 15 or so minutes for him to return.
At time no. 4 here comes the sister to tell me to call him. At this point I feel like none of this makes any logical sense and really wanted to be left alone. So I said Jesus f-cking Christ fine I will call him. And sure enough he says I’m on the way back blah blah. The sister then runs off crying based on me saying Jesus f-cking Christ in her direction.
Here enters the brother to tell me that I didn’t need to react like that. Yet when I responded calmly and rationally and repeated myself three times no one heard me, apparently.
This all under the guise of wanting the child to be comfortable. If you really want to be ‘helpful’ (as they said) then go buy a pack of diapers and wipes. Otherwise we’re waiting. I felt as though they overstepped and then proceeded to gang up me based on me being there alone with them.
AITA?
