A major pet peeve of mine:
Is when people try to use the Bible to argue against Christians and make it seem like the Bible is more accepting than it really is. Two big examples, both related to gay people:
"Leviticus condemns pedophilia." No it doesn't. There is no evidence this is the case, and in fact the standards of the time in how child marriage was viewed as a ok is the best evidence against this. Not to mention how even if that were the case that that is what it condemned, it still says to stone both, so you would be killing both the pedo and the victim.
"The Bible is fine with lesbians." Also incorrect. Romans 1:26: ^(")Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. ^(27) In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another." So yes, the Bible is against both lesbians and gay men.
And even if any of these arguments were true, which they aren't, the only rebuttal to Christian arguments should be "I don't care what it says in your holy book." That's all that's needed. Anything else is like trying to argue with a child that their imaginary friend didn't actually say they could have ice cream for every meal.
