Alter was able to talk about a recovered memory before I remembered it

I have been formally diagnosed with DID. Years ago I was asked to talk about my trauma. Another voice spoke out of me and said that my father had tried to strangle me as a child. I then got a somatic flashback feeling burning in my throat and chest. Less than an hour later the visual memory came back to me. Could this be real? Is this how DID works?
