AT-LP60XBT: no longer working after trying speed adjustment
Good morning! Working through some issues with my AT-LP60XBT that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on.
Recently got in Gatsbys American Dream's "Volcano" on vinyl, which is an album I know intimately well, so I was thrown for a loop when it was clearly running faster than it should sound. Assuming in good faith (based on their prior releases) that it wasn't a poor master, I tried out one of those turntable speed clock apps on my phone, and sure enough, I was close up to 35! Really crept up on me.
First thing I did was go through the steps in this thread using a screwdriver underneath to adjust the 33 playback, which seemed to be working like a charm. I got myself down to about 33.8 before it all went to Hell, so I know I was heading in the right direction.
The next (sixth?) time I flipped it back over to check the speed again, the automatic start just didn't work. Pressing the button did nothing. I went through the "unplug, press stop, turn clockwise 10 times, try again" process several times (during this step, and following several more steps), and while I always felt some kind of "click" fall back into place, the darn thing never actually lifted up and starting playing again after this.
Next step for me was two-fold: (1) check the belt (yep, it had fallen off; I put that back into place correctly, only looped around the gold pulley... which I've done before as well, so I know I got this right!), and then (2) tried resetting the automatic mechanism as per this video.
No go every time. I press "start" and the thing just sits there. (Yes, it's plugged in, and yes it's getting power; the Bluetooth indicator is flashing.)
At this point I've exhausted my knowledge. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to upgrade and get something new, but it also wouldn't be the worst thing to find some simple solution that keeps this one trucking along.
Thanks much for whatever thoughts you have!
