Is this weird or standard security procedure?
So I just opened an account with them several days ago. Anyway, I received an email from them today stating the following: We need to speak with you about recent activity on your account. For security purposes, your account is restricted until we speak with you.” With the telephone number 1 (855) 730-7283 at the end—which indeed is GS’s number.
I called them and the lady stated that she couldn’t send an authentication code to my phone. I asked her “why” and she said because my phone doesn’t receive them”. I was like okay? So I answered a few questions. She then asked me a series of questions (which of the five streets have you lived at, which of the cities have you been associated with). And then she asked me MORE. She asked which cell phone carrier I have, if my number is new or if I’ve had it for awhile, etc.
Is this standard security protocol or just weird?? I also will say that my phone number is registered under my dad’s… not sure if his name/address popped up while they ran my number through a system or something. Just felt so weirded out.
