I started playing on early 2024 (I consider myself as newbie) and never stopped, and the most thing I like on FM is the tactical approach.

I'll make this post because I wanna share my experience on tactical approach since I started.

First thing I wanna talk, its about bad and wrong tips to newbies. When I started playing, I receaved alot of tips from friends and streamers, and something I noticed its that most of them were based on their tactical preferences, like "don't use assimetrical tactics". Also some bad tips, it's when you say to not do something because its just recommended for more advanced players, and the bad thing about that is that newbies take it too serious and never do it again, reducing they creativity on the game. In my perspective, in those cases, you shouldn't say "don't do that", but say something like "I don't recommend doing that because [...], but you can try", like that they will see themself why it doesn't work, improving their tactical knowledge.

Other thing is that I noticed something people with alot of experience on the game do, which is a big mistake. Taking things literally. To be more clear, let me give you and example... I was in a live stream from a very experienced FM player, and he thought that the instruction "dribble more" make the player literally dribble more, which is completely wrong. The instruction "dribble just makes the player run more with the ball before passing. Other example of it, its a player that play since the 90s and told me that me using the overlap instruction was wrong on my tactic as I had just one player out wide, saying that overlap happens when there's a player out wide with the ball, and other player out wide makes a run behind him to receive the ball, which he isn't wrong about that. The problem is that, in my perspective, the defenition of the terms doesn't matter at all, what really matters is whats the effect the instruction has on the tactic or players. I know the overlap instruction makes the out wide players be more agressive attacking space, and estimulates the other player to search for a pass to that players making the run, so it works really well with just one player out wide if he has space.

The third point here is actually similar to the first one, but more specific. I always see people saying things like "Have at least 3 player on attack duty" or "don't use multiple playmakers", and with all respect, that's bullshit. FM is much more than that, or rather, football is much more than that. FM is just "If this, than that" or "You need to do this this and that", because that destroyes completely the creativity the game has.

Look at the tactic I just anexed. Its the tactic I'm using currently on my Santa Clara save and its dominating Liga Portugal and the Conference League. If I show to someone experienced without talking about the results of the tactic, they would.probably say that I should have more players on attack... That I shouldn't use 2 playmakers, etc etc. And that pisses me off.

What do you think about this? (I'd you read all of it, you're a real one 🫡)
