My full Leesa vs Casper brand comparison (they are not the same)
I thought I’d do a Leesa vs. Casper brand comparison since I’ve been seeing a lot of ads that got me thinking about how they’re different (and the same!). Both brands have a good range for different needs, but I like the way some of Leesa’s options are set up to allow for different combinations of upgrades and firmness levels.
What to know about the Leesa brand:
- Limited lifetime warranty
- They’ll deliver your mattress, set it up, and haul your old one away.
- They have everything from basic, crowd-pleasing mattresses to more luxurious ones, plus kids’ mattresses, mattresses designed for plus-size bodies, cooling mattresses, and natural latex mattresses.
- They offer foam-only and hybrid mattresses.
- 100-night trial
- If you need to return it, they’ll likely encourage you to donate it to charity yourself, or they’ll come pick it up (I’m not sure what happens to mattresses they pick up)
What to know about the Casper brand:
- You can get a foam, hybrid, or “Max” (that one has extra cooling features, flex coils, and foam, which technically makes it another hybrid, but they set it apart as a new category on the site)
- 10-year limited warranty
- Two delivery options–one’s super-basic and fast (UPS), and the other takes longer but involves hauling your old mattress away
- 100-night trial
- If you need to return it, they’ll pick it up and try to donate it after that.
At a glance, the two brands start out looking pretty similar. Leesa has a wider range of options overall, but Casper holds its own with three types of mattresses that offer a variety of features.
Leesa recs:
I’m a fan of the two middle ground mattresses Leesa has to offer, the Sapira (Chill Hybrid, specifically) and the Legend.
The Sapira keeps you cool (even cooler with the Chill Hybrid option, which has a plush quilted top) and has edge support to keep you feeling safe and secure. It comes in three different comfort levels if you go with the Chill Hybrid (Firm, Medium-Firm, and Plush), and the regular Sapira is medium-to-medium-firm.
The Legend is a medium-plush hybrid with extra pressure relief, made in part from recycled materials, organic cotton, and organic Merino wool (resistant to bacteria, mold, and mildew). It’s also available in the Chill Hybrid option.
Casper recs:
Here, I think I’d go with the middle ground (with cooling) again: the Hybrid Snow (the Dream is good, too, but not extra-cooling), which has more support and pressure relief than the basic One model, but less than the Max mattresses.
This is their highest rated mattress, for its responsive springs, extra support, and medium firmness (good for any sleeping position). It’s also good at preventing motion transfer–a huge plus if your partner’s a restless sleeper.
If you want to stay about five degrees cooler at night, the Snow can help. It’s designed for hot sleepers. It’s still part of the Hybrids collection, and it’s designed to conform to your body (you don’t give up the extra support the Dream has, either).
Is one better than the other, across the board?
Well, no. I do have a slight preference for the Leesa because you get more choices in firmness (with the Chill Hybrid, at least), but I also appreciate the way Casper handles delivery and returns, when necessary (so if you want to test it out, that’s something to consider). Bottom line, I like options, and I like being cool at night.
