Struggling with my idendity for using vst's and presets

I recently came back to making music and now i see myself faced with a dilemma.

Should i be allowed to call it "i make music" or "it is my music"...

I'm a pretty bad live player but i would say i have a hand for arranging, composing and song structure.

Because of that i mainly use vst's for guitars, bass and drums. Although i play them in on a midi keyboard i often feel like a imposter because actually someone else recorded it.

I really want to get the best sound and be as crative as is want when it comes to amp sound etc.

And when i show it to someone i often get a "well you didn't play the guitar?" or "how do you play the guitar on the keyboard?" and it makes me wonder and sent me into a little crisis about that.

It really depends a little bit on the genre as well i guess, because in electronic music nobody actually plays it. But since it's common for pop / rock to be played live i made me think...

Did someone else feel like that? How did you cope with it or set your mind at peace?

I would really appreciate some input on this topic. Thanks.
