A more refreshing take from a hater
I understand why people get tired of seeing the same points being talked about when it comes to the issues surrounding this game, and I've been one of those people who is very vocal against the direction EA has taken, but I actually wanted to make a quick post to highlight some more positive things from my perspective.
Firstly, a huge round of applause to the devs. Full circle have had to deal with a lot of shit from all sides when it comes to making this game, Both from the community and EA who have grown a bad reputation in recent years for not looking after even some of their most talented and passionate teams. Imagine working your ass off for years with the constant threat of being laid off after launch. I'd hate that.
Secondly, the game itself. Even though I personally don't enjoy playing it there are a few features that are true improvements to the skateboarding experience. Most of them boil down to having more control over positioning and timing. Being able to hold fakie stance and now being able to technically skate 'true switch' is absolutely genius and feels like those were mechanics that relate more to how we skate in real life. I understand people wanting darkslides back, but in my honest opinion prioritising the simpler and more foundational functions of skateboarding is far more relatable and immersive for those of us who skate, (I love my fakie and switch heels). Other features like the flip speed and grind tweaks are also fantastic and feel like a natural progression of the flickit system.
Basically those are the things that really stand out for me, and I wanted to clarify that most of my negative comments for this product is actually directed towards EA, and not Full circle, nor the community of people who enjoy playing.
It's the live service always online trend that I think really sours the experience for me. And that's on EA as a company not really understanding what made the originals so great! Will keep playing all 3 skates until my Xbox dies or I die, lets see which one happens first haha
