After a decade of riding sport bikes I finally made the leap to an older Dyna, and I must say I'm quite happy with it so far. I was very drawn to the reputation for simplicity and reliability of the Evo. I've put more miles on this bike in the past month than I did on my Daytona 675 in over the past two seasons.

This is a 1998 FXD Super Glide with 43k miles that I picked up for just under $4500 USD (70k kms for $6000 CAD here in Canada). Allegedly has a Screamin' Eagle Stage 2 kit installed but no documentation to back that up. Had a few other bits installed such as V&H drag pipes, Progressive 412s, Biltwell Murdock riser, no-name T-Sport fairing, and Screamin' Eagle intake. Was converted to forward controls at some point.

Since purchasing I've put on a Saddlemen seat to replace the stock seat, swap out the old halogen lights for some brighter LEDs, painted the fairing, and added Thrashin' Expedition bags as well as their bar bag.

Down the road I'd like to convert back to mid controls if I can find some at a reasonable price in Canada, as well as swap the drag pipes out for a 2:1 exhaust (again, hard to come by for a reasonable price here in Canada).

First order of business however is swapping out the front brakes to something more performant as the OEM 2-pot leaves a lot to be desired - likely going with a Wilwood GP310 single disk setup.

Second order of business is tracking down oil consumption - seems like I'm consuming a half quart every 500km or so (down to the 'Full Cold' line on the dipstick when hot). Some seepage at the base gasket but no notable leaks or smoke. Have not yet to pull the plugs - for now I just keep a quart of oil in my saddlebag and top up as necessary. May pull the top end over the winter - the EVO can't be too complicated!
