Trying to get a friend's 1996 VS1400 running properly and am looking for some advice.

Currently it is idling very high and for the most part only running on the rear cylinder. If you blip and release the throttle, the front cylinder will kick in for a few seconds, stick at a very high idle (sounds like 3000+ rpm) and then drop out again.

The bike has stock air boxes, heathly boots, knock off fuel pump, and drag pipes. Jets are stock sizes. Choke position does not seem to impact operation. Compression at 150+psi on each cylinder.

I've pulled the carbs and ultrasonically cleaned the bodies and jets. Slides are not the smoothest I've felt but not stuck. New plugs front and rear with confi

Hi all,

I work a full time day job but have a small woodworking and carpentry "side hustle", doing things such as light duty remodels/handyman work, small cabinetry, and small furniture pieces.

Currently this is operating as a side project generating minimal returns but I have made significant investment (building a shop on my property, tools) and will likely need to make more investment in the future (trailer, expansion to shop) and I get more serious in the coming year.

This leads me to believe that it would be wise to get registered as an LLC to mitigate personal liability and tax purposes, both as a means of being "legit" in the eyes of the government and to be able to write off som

I'm 6'0 185lbs in the intermediate category on the east coast, so we don't usually get as much "juice" as the west coast.

Started surfing almost 20 years ago but had to take the past 5 years off after a nasty motorcycle accident messed up my shoulder pretty good. Brain remembers what to do but my body has been fighting me and I need a bit of extra paddle power due to my shoulder. Back into the swing of things this spring and no problems with cruisy cutbacks, but want to work back towards "top to bottom" surfing like I could (albeit not well) before my injury.

My current "daily driver" is a 7'2 (50L) Chilli Mid Strength. It's been a stellar board but a lot to swing around. Also been on a 6

UPDATE May 22:

I took the Siberian back to the range today and had better, but not stellar, results. Passed 500 rounds today. Haven't heard from BCL yet but certainly not expecting to until after the long weekend.

After my first post, I stripped out all the ballistol, which had congealed into a paste like substance overnight, and re lubricated with G96. I disassembled the BCG and it was full of a thick black sludge. I manually racked the bolt probably in excess of 100 times.

I ditched the Gen2 Pmags, my MCR hates them as well. After stripping the ballistol and manually racking it quite a bit, the bolt release was working with Gen3 and Cross mags. I'll chock it up to being a G2 thing.

TL;DR - Just sold my i7 8700, H370 mobo and ram from my gaming PC that wasn't really seeing any use. Considering upgrading to an 12600k, 12700k or 5800x, to pair with the RTX 2080 I still have. I'd rather not spend i9 money but also want to decently upgrade from my i7-8700 to something that will be good for several years to come. I am also not in a rush to buy if better things are anticipated to come to market soon. Will need to buy new mobo + ram to accompany.

Yesterday, my friend had a motherboard failure with his craigslist Xeon based system. I have been pretty busy with work and renovations the past year and as a result my gaming PC has been sitting idle - so I sold him the i7 870

A few days ago I took a tumble while doing a water crossing through very muddy water and drowned my S model DRZ. Tried to hit the kill switch as I was going down but no such luck and it hit the water running and immediately died, sucking in muddy clay water.

Made the mistake of trying to crank it on the trail after draining the airbox/carb (with no luck) and have been trying to get it to start every since.

So far I have:

  • Drained the water from the exhaust and cylinder by pulling the plug and blasting it out

  • Drained all the oil. Lots of water and gunk. Have cycled a couple quarts of clean oil mixed with some ATF as a detergent through the crankcase using the starter.

  • Flushed the
