Help identifying "Leesse/Leefse" – ancestor Charles Bley ~1710
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to trace an ancestor born around 1710 (based on genealogical records, although this year might be incorrect). Charles Bley married Anna Maria Müller in Ettelbrück, Diekirch, Luxembourg in 1729. On his marriage record, his father is listed as Jean Nicolai Bley, and his origins from "Leesse" or "Leefse."
As seen in the image, this appears to be the name of a town or village. However, I haven't been able to find any evidence that such a place existed in 1729, either in what is now Luxembourg, Belgium, or Germany.
My goal is to locate Charles Bley’s birth record or any record of Jean/Jois/Johann Nicholas/Nicolai/Nicolau Bley. To do this, I need to identify the actual town or village referred to as Leesse/Leefse. I still don't know anything about Charles's mother.
I noticed that many online records say Charles was born in Gilsdorf. However, I’ve checked the village and all surrounding records and haven’t found his birth there. I’ve searched within a 10-year margin since none of his records, including four different marriage records and his death, indicate his age.
Marriages:
-
[1] 1729 - first record in the second page (unidentified date);
-
[2] 1734 - just online records reference;
Has anyone come across a historical town with a similar name, or any records that could point me in the right direction? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
