'The Next Movement' / "The Language" - Extends beyond Kendrick, Keem, Clipse, Tyler - to - JID, Chance, Joey and others
- The first section of this post is very similar to the intro to the first post made in the other subreddit, so feel free to skip to the JID part onwards
- Tyler The Creator, Clipse, Baby Keem, Pharrell and others are on what we'll call "Kendrick's side", Drake and others are on the other
- Questlove appreciates Kendrick Lamar’s homage in “squabble up” video, The Roots' new album is on its way
- Facebook reels video showing the similarities between the 4 videos (best I could do)
- Kendrick: Squabble Up
- Clipse: Chains & Whips (feat. Kendrick)
- Tyler: Stop Playing With Me (feat. Clipse cameo)
- notice how the features on these songs connect the 3 artists
- (You'll see very soon how Baby Keem connects to these artists and their recent music)
- The choice to pay homage to this particular song is very deliberate (like everything else they do)
- 'The Next Movement'
- These artists seem to be paving the way for "The Next Movement" of hiphop, while upholding, honouring, respecting its traditions, history and "roots"
- 'The Roots' also symbolises the respect they have for hiphop heritage or "roots"
- Taking down Drake was a big part of this - all of these artists are on his neck
- 'So Be It' and Keem's 'durag activity' are two interesting songs to have so many visual parallels, given that one features Travis Scott, while the other disses Travis Scott
- This is likely a hint as to which side of the divide Travis now finds himself (or at least from Pusha's perspective
- Don't let the crude Pepe Silvia layout distract you - the similarities are definitely there:
- The clapperboard, reel rings, ballerinas, classic Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (or similar) , black & white shots, chandeliers, neck/chain shots, shadow on wall shots
- Tyler has multiple easter eggs, references, samples and cameos pertaining to the other artists mentioned, plus a beef with Drake that's been obvious to those of us paying attention for a while - but is now gettting more mainstream attention
- 'The Hillbillies' (Kendrick & Keem)
- Tyler appears in the video
- Drake in latest single, recreates Tyler's dance (the lines aimed at LeBron can apply to Tyler too)
- Drake's "Let's Go" chorus of new single and video 'What did I Miss?' seems to reference Tyler's 'Come On, Let’s Go' which also features Pharrell
-
Keem described 'The Hillbillie's on twitter as a dub of Drake's 'Sticky'
-
mocks Drake's weird behaviour with girls/women and alludes to trafficking
- girls getting paid, taken etc
-
“Ayo Erick, bring them girls to the stage, cause somebody gonna get paid” - Drake
-
“Messi, get them girls off the stage cause somebody gonna get taken" - Keem
-
Detailed Analysis: Baby Keem's under the radar role in the subliminals leading up to "the battle" - more details here on the Keem/Drake beef
-
As well as making a cameo in 'The Hillbillies', a parody of Sticky by Drake's opps, Tyler made his own song called 'Sticky'
- The vinyl version contains the lyric "Fuck that, mood swinging like Aubrey on a jet"
- A lot of the Keem and Tyler subliminals aimed at Drake over the last few years reference jets (see 'trademark usa', 'south africa'), as does 'Hey Now' by Kendrick, the beat Tyler rapped over for 'THAT GUY'
- "It's the Ben Frank murderer Mister I ain't heard of ya Gulf streams, back to back, flyin' through the turbulence Who is he? Free lunch, hmm, Kraft Services"
- this is a flip of Drake lyric: “Big Benjamins like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Drake you got it, Robert Kraft sent the jet for us
- Robert Kraft links to sex trafficking
- THAT GUY is one of 3 recent Keem adlibs/samples Tyler has included on recent songs (THAT GUY, Like Him, Don't Tap the Glass)
-
In 'THAT GUY', the "huh" sample from 'booman' by Keem
- in my recent Keem post I linked 5 songs to allusions to trafficking and weird behaviour with girls: 'range brothers', 'south africa', 'trademark usa', 'lost souls', 'The Hillbillies'. 'booman' was not even included
- Some notable lyrics: "I cannot be happy unless my whole team get a taste" and "I'm in a casket 'cause I get ratchet, uh" , mentions NDAs
- THAT GUY video shows Tyler prominently on the 405 Freeway which has been mentioned recently by Kendrick and Clipse
- "Straight up the 405" - 'EBITDA'
- "Put two foreigns on the 405" - 'peekaboo'
- BEFORE the Clipse album back in February, I speculated why Kendrick may want to bring attention to the 405
- (Since I made the original post - Justin Bieber (who hates Drake released a song called 405!!!!)
-
Clipse appear in Tyler's new 'Stop Playing With Me' video alongside LeBron James, another Drake opp
-
'NOID' - this references the Chamblee Incident. In 1989, Kenneth Lamar Noid, a mentally ill man who believed that the Domino's Pizza "Avoid the Noid" ads were personally directed towards him, antagonizing him. He took 2 Domino's employees hostage at gunpoint.
- Tyler and Kendrick fans speculated about this upon release due to the name being so similar to Kendrick's as well as some thematic similarities
-
r/tyler "Did Tyler, The Creator just diss Drake?" - read for disses on new album
-
It's a bad indictment of the lack of focus in the previous subreddit that there's no tyler megathread -there's so much more to unpack
-
Deliberate connections between these artists music is indisputable
-
Keep an eye and ear out for subtle allusions to Kendrick songtitles and Drake songtitles to canonise and flag the sneak disses/references between these artists...and other artists
-
Let's jump into some of the other artists beyond the core of Kendrick, Keem, Clipse, Tyler:
- JID, Chance The Rapper, Joey Bada$$
JID's involvement
Animals (feat Eminem) - reel ring
His recent song with Eminem contains the same reel ring that we’ve seen in 'luther', 'So Be It', 'durag activity', 'N95', 'Propaganda'. While this means nothing on it own as it could be merely aesthetic, a number of lyrics have jumped out thereafter.
JID - Sun
Verse 2 - Anycia
"Back to Back", "Ski Mask...Slumped" - pretty obvious stuff
Yellow Diamonds (quick aside)
Image above should include:
Rich Flex by Drake / 21 Savage - Yellow diamonds on the watch" -
Bodies by Offset (feat. JID) - "Yellow the stone, the booger lookin' snotty"
Knew Better by JID (feat Lil Yachty(- A new Patek, put the puke on the face (Eugh, eugh)
Gold Feet (Freddie Gibbs feat. J.I.D.)
- no way a rapper like JID uses the phrases “tailor made” and “Back to Back” in quick succession in 2025 without being aware it will bring Drake to mind as these are Drake song titles. Mentioning “DNA”, obviously a Kendrick song is another hint
- very common way of canonising sneak disses while maintaining plausible deniability as these are common generic phrases.
- Similar to how Keem would use phrases like “Take Care”, "Jaded" and “What’s Next” (as well as ‘Family Ties = Mob Ties, Range Brothers = Splash Brothers) during the pre-battle subliminals to make allusions to Drake songtitles.
- Baby Keem detailed analysis - links Drake to nefarious activity, XXXtentation, Glokknine, Ski Mask The Slump God
- “Layin in that bed you made” - I suppose he’s just saying that Drake got what he deserved and is now paying the consequences.
- "Schemin' on them in a ski mask"
JID - VCR (feat. Vince Staples)
- "Want that nice crib in the Hills?" - Hidden Hills?
- "You're Juliet, I'll be Romeo Montague" - flipping Drake's own "Romeo" nickname? See Keem post.
- "I'm from the 6, no devil shit"
Taraji and Common couldn't get the guy to testify
They wearing wires and camouflage, it's espionage - (Drake is a fed)
Hop into the ride, it's a Hellcat, but the vessel of God - (another Dodge reference)
Cops probably stop me any time they feel jeopardized
Pull me to the side, I go IG Live
If I feel endangered, I'ma up my (Fah)
Do it for the squad because it's no child ever left behind
Hold me down, dog, have my back and just protect my spine
And if they at your neck, just know it's wrecking time
But the plot twist is, niggas done made it out the 6
9 on this waist, you better straighten up your back bone
Ten times out of ten, niggas is in attack mode (One, two, three, look, uh)
6 = Drake, 9 = Glokknine, "10" = X, "3" = XXX
"He walk a tight rope" - Tightrope is an XXX song, tightrope depicted in NLU video. TLV3 confirmed this ages ago in a comment
"But the plot twist is, niggas done made it out the 6"
Yes, JID is from Zone 6 in Atlanta but everyone associates "the 6" with Drake/Toronto. Mentioning "plottttwistttttt", Drake's throwaway instagram is deliberate here IMO given the context of "the 6".
- Was surprised to see that this was noted in the genius annotations (albeit marked as a stretch). Imgur
Vince - "Rolled a seven", along with JID's "fah" - could tie into "luther" - "rollin 7s i aint pray for nobody"
Knew Better - JID (feat Lil Yachty)
This song is fucking crazy. Overt references to:
- "X" , "Ski",
- Kendricks discography ("Big stepper", DAMN"),
- "doin' two hunnid an hour Headed down Broward " - an obvious reference to Glokknine's clumsy Vlad interview where he admitted to being pulled over on Highway 95 / i-95 for speeding the day of X's murder.
[Verse 1: Lil Yachty]
- "(Ruff, ruff, ruff)" - Drake and dogs?
- "Geekin' on X, ... (Phew, ski, ski)" - goes without saying...XXXtentation, Ski Mask The Slump God
- "Hoes wild away, still toes around me (Damn) I'm a big-toe stepper, don't check on lil' bros"
- Kendrick references
MDMA on my tongue kinda sour
Far from a coward, prestigious as Howard (Ruff, ruff, ruff, ruff)
In the two-door, doin' two hunnid an hour
Headed down Broward, pour up a four, Zay Flowers"
- MDMA = ecstasy= "X"
- Headed down Broward - stupidly brazen at this point - talking about Glokknine's clumsy contradictory confession on DJ Vlad
