fleas are psychological torture.
we have an 11 month old kitten and noticed flea dirt on her 2 days ago. don’t have a flea comb but gave her an oral flea tablet and noticed only around 5/6 live fleas around her after she was scratching like crazy. quarantined her in the living room the past two days (after cutting and hoovering/ cleaning the whole room), while we treated the carpets in the bedrooms, and cleaned/ hoovered EVERYWHERE for the past two days.
bear (the kitten) had the vet today for unrelated reasons to get her vaccines, and i mentioned the fleas to the vet. she combed her, found nothing and said best to just keep administering whatever i’ve used because she technically can’t prescribe treatment because she can’t find fleas on her. so take her home pleased because hopefully we caught it early enough - note - we only found roughly 4/5 fleas around the house and 0 on the carpeted rooms, just the hard wood flooring where the cat hadn’t even been.
so today, bring her home. leave her in the crate while i re clean the whole living room within an inch of its life, then the rest of the house. didn’t treat the carpets because i was letting bear roam free again. i FINALLY finish cleaning everything and go to take my jeans off, there is ONE SINGULAR FLEA on my sock. i shit you not, ONE FLEA. immediately im panicking because what????
i immediately put the cat back in the living room and spray the carpets and floors and rehoover them AGAIN. i am so confused on what to do because i can’t live like this. it is actual psychological torture. i have ocd which just makes it worse, but i just don’t feel clean in my home and i don’t really know what to do next. i would love ANY info or advice to calm my nerves or get this issue sorted. ps we rent a ground floor flat if that’s any help.
thanks 😓
