What I've learned

Hey everyone!

I made a post about a week ago when a girl ended things with me. Here's the link to the original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/dating_advice/comments/1n107gx/comment/navxsvh/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

So, if you've read the original post, there’s more to the story. I ended up texting her again two days after she ended things (big mistake) and basically apologized for pushing the exclusive talk on her, along with a bunch of weak, apologetic stuff. She said I didn’t have to apologize and, if anything, I showed her that she shouldn’t be dating right now and should focus on herself… I saw her on Hinge yesterday lol.

So anyways I wanted to share what I've taken away from this as it's helped me grow, and hopefully it'll help others out there.

I've learned that the reason this whole thing with this girl didn’t work was that I got too emotionally invested after only dating for about a week, as well as being too needy—basically chasing her and pushing her away. Any many redditors on my original post agreed and emphasized this.

  • Calling her out when flaking instead of playing it cool
  • Texting her everyday(becoming a digital pen pal and not giving her a chance to wonder and miss me)
  • Not picking up on the signs that she was pulling back, and not following suit.

It’s preached a lot on this sub, but if there are any mixed signals or confusing communication from the other party, that’s a “no.” Reciprocate the energy that’s given to you—1 + 1 needs to equal 2 for any sort of connection to work.

Hopefully my experience helps others out there. If anyone else has any objections to my points, or any good additions, feel free to provide feedback!
