The realism debate confused me

For a while I could never understand why people were debating about the new skate being unrealistic or not, since like all other skate games you can choose how realistic you want your line to be.

The things you can do are definitely more amped up than back in the original skate, but even then you could do some crazy shit in the OG games.

Then I kinda realised what was happening, and I think its mostly down to marketing. The videos and social media posts EA have put out on official channels have showed a little bit of realistic skating but for the most part their highlights have been trying to show the extremes of what you can do, maybe to target the more casual/streamer centric audience.

On the flip side since the NDA lifted, way more content creators have actually taken the time to showcase how realistic the gameplay can be, and this is now what is changing peoples minds about skate being unrealistic.

So I actually kinda understand now why so many people were complaining about realism specifically when they had probably only seen a handful of posts from EA directly of characters flying off skyscrapers and doing endless kickflips.

Kinda sad that the youtubers have been doing most of the heavy lifting when it comes to the marketing.
