Rune Calling (Atrax AU)

Lorepost (closed interaction)๐Ÿ““๐Ÿ”’

Ephemera strolled out to a storage building or shed on Seiryas property. She had been given the duty of contacting the remaining members of Atrax's special squads and teleporting them to Avirion. Atrax had even said she had a chance at becoming his official Herald. She was quietly riding that high all the way to their new shelter.

Runic teleportation was generally a much slower route than normal teleportation. It required making a runic circle at both the target destination and the starting destination. This made it better for when dwarves needed to quickly move people between dwarven controlled areas. However a runepriest could easily make one half of the pair which Ephemera was working on. While she did she contacted her fellow dwarves that stayed behind in Ithicar using one of her earrings.

"Dumak? Can you hear me?..... Good! How did things go at the battle? I'm glad to hear that none of our fellow were injured. They were smart to keep you in the back. Oh? Well I'm sorry you're so busy but I must burden you further. The Emberlord requires a teleportation circle made for his agents to move. I am making one half. I require you and the others to prepare the other. The supplies should be in pack five but if not talk to Ithellion or Riva. They seem to know Ithicar enough to get what you need..... Okay. Good. You have them.... One more thing. I require the materials for the ritual of familial finding. Why? One of our allies has a lost family member. It would be useful to the cause to retrieve them. And it would be good returning of their hospitality..... Thanks.... Yes I'll pick you up a souvenir!"

...

It was the early morning in Ithicar when the heroes of the siege (perhaps a little hungover) were met by messengers. They had a message from the dwarves in regards to the next mission. They were to get their gear ready and head to the large warehouse that the dwarves had taken over since their arrival.

The warehouse smelled like five different shop classes put together. Welded metal, burnt and shaved wood, chemicals and furnaces. Enough dwarves had been sent to cover most forms of creation. Each a master or near master at their profession. They had talked little with the rest of the group. Ephemera had been selected to lead them partly because other master craftsmen tended to grow grumbly and antisocial. Dumak was her second because he had a lesser version of her pro social nature. Less religious though.

"Greetings. Finally showed up."

Dumak said. He didn't want to make multiple trips so he waited in the front part of the building until EVERYONE had arrived then guided them all at once. Anyone who was early basically had to stand outside with him chatting. Dumak would talk about crafting or other dwarven things but would quickly fall silent on other topics.

Inside the warehouse a large area had been cleared for the runic circle. Multiple tiles were placed on the ground with runes carved into them to avoid scarring the floor. Bright red chalk connected the tiles and formed a barrier to hold the magic and stop any stray teleportation. It hummed with a light pink energy showing it was already connected to the other side.

"Alright now. Everyone keep all limbs and items inside the runic circle. If you lose a hand we will not be held responsible. Also don't hold your breath and don't fight the current when your teleportation sounds. Other than that you should be fine!"

Dumak and the other dwarves stood waiting for the crew to enter the circle. When they did the dwarves contacted Ephemera to confirm she was ready. Once she confirmed Dumak gave a smile

"Good luck. Keep your stomachs from going crazy. The first time is nauseous!"

He laughed with a little to much enthusiasm and slammed his hammer on one of the tiles. All the others broke in sympathy and activated the circle. The whole group was turned into spirit forms and sucked through a newly created pathway at High speeds. It was impossible to get any details while traveling as everything was a blur.

The crew arrived with a small crackle. The storage shed Ephemera had prepared was suddenly full of people. It was cramped and everyone felt like they were thrown around a terrible carnival ride. However they made it.

Ephemera gave them all a welcoming bow.

"Greetings Champions of Ithicar. Welcome to new Avirion. The Emberlord awaits you eagerly!"

She said in the most formal possible tone. Before leading them to reunite with the rest of their group.
