Cat won’t eat

Behavioral Issue

My wife’s 8-year-old Calico (female, spayed) stopped eating around mid-July to early August. At first, we thought it was a protest since we had just adopted a new male kitten, and she isn’t very friendly with other animals. We bought a pheromone diffuser and eventually took her to an emergency vet. All her tests came back normal, though they mentioned her pancreas might be inflamed.

We scheduled a follow-up with another recommended vet, and again, her tests were fine. They prescribed medications for inflammation and nausea, and once we started that treatment, she began eating again. Unfortunately, she had already lost quite a bit of weight during the time she wasn’t eating.

Now, about a month later, she’s suddenly stopped eating again. My wife is really distraught watching her cat go through this and fears she might starve herself if it continues. She also worries that if we take her back to the vet, they’ll just tell us the same thing again or recommend hospitalization.

Has anyone experienced something similar with their cat, and if so, what helped
