Finally did it
Purchased from an older couple who purchased her back in 2006. Has 40k, mint condition. Stored in his climate controlled garage with his other toys. They are hitting 80 soon, and decided to keep a couple classics for Sunday drives. He put a new battery in her last month. Claimed the battery that he swapped for was the original. Motor sounds great, top works, Original everything. But... It did have the plastic crack behind the drivers seat, which he had repaired before I took ownership. The fix looks great. Under the hood is clean, etc. We had to drive it home, about 100 miles, and it ran fantastic. $25k, and I knocked him down a grand. He also has a lift, and did the oil every year, and took it to the BMW dealer for the more important service. at 60k I will have the bearings done no matter how it sounds. All dash lights, shifter lights, etc are good. Even the door leather is tight. The original invoice is in the glove box. $58,615.00 all in. The good ol days! His wife was 61 when they bought it. She was pretty sad to see it go, but mobility issues have prevented them from using it. Every year he took it out for 30min and back home, where he would change the oil, check the rubber bits, and other fluids, and put it back to bed. At 56, I guess Ill be doing the same thing in a few years, and I expect to keep her looking the way she looked when she left the factory. What a beautiful ride. We are all gifted to own this piece of BMW history.
