Forgotten Too Soon?
I feel insane trying to describe this to my friends, many of whom either married the first person they dated or have never had a serious relationship.
My third serious relationship just ended a week ago. I wasn’t looking for it to end, and it came as an abrupt surprise when it happened, but when he was giving his speech about why he didn’t like me anymore, it just became so crystal clear to me that it never would have worked out anyway. I really did care for him, and until that moment we had only had fun and meaningful times together. And yet… After two days, I felt close to nothing. Now, eight days later, I don’t know how to describe it other than to say that I have mostly forgotten that I was in this relationship? We dated for five months, and were friends for about eight months preceding that. I haven’t seen him since, but likely will this week as we are in the same Bible study. Has anyone else had this experience? This is not how I felt AT ALL during or after either of my other two relationships ended, though granted they were at least twice the length.
