What should I do if my current internship team doesn’t like me or want to keep me?
I’m currently interning at a Fortune 500 company this fall, and I’ve done two other internships before this at another Fortune 500. Unfortunately, I ran into a compliance issue at my last internship (nothing major but it was last minute credit card fraud thing that ended up being resolved two months after my internship). Because of that, I’m now unsure about my post-grad job prospects there.
At my current internship, I can’t tell if my team even likes me or wants me to stay. I’ve tried asking about a potential extension or full-time conversion, but they give corporate-friendly non-answers, which I assume means “no.” I’ve tried setting up one on ones, my main manger said I am coachable but I’m not professional or seem distracted.
There’s another team within the same company that I’m genuinely interested in, but I’m not sure if it’s even worth applying internally if my current team doesn’t seem supportive of me.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Should I still try applying to another team, or would that look bad internally?
