Lotus Sutra Chapter 11

3I/ATLAS did not "originate" from a star 270 ly away. That star was a whistlestop just like ours. 3I/ATLAS will stay here for as long as it is needed, possibly several hundred years in our case. We have to reverse and control global heating and learn how to build spaceships from asteroid materials as well as transform our society. This may require a mini-ice age. HD 43782 c is an Earth-like planet supporting an intelligent civilization. 3I/ATLAS will have visited hundreds of such planets in the course of its voyaging. 3I/ATLAS will have chosen Sol as a destination based on hundreds of prior examples. It will have known that an asteroid wiped out the dinosaurs and that this event may lead to more exotic intelligent life-forms evolving. To set a course and coast here 3I/ATLAS must have access to an extraordinarily precise ephemeris. At this level this must be a galactic ephemeris, which implies the existence of a civilization superior to that of 3I/ATLAS itself. 3I/ATLAS has been making adjustments in order to establish resources. In particular the asteroid moon we recently acquired temporarily has now been nudged into a permanent orbit. We will need this asteroid, and maybe a few more, in a first step to developing our asteroid mining and industrial space technology.

This is not the first visit by such a vehicle. In Chapter 11 Lotus Sutra a visit by a "treasure tower" "meteor" is described. The concepts in this chapter chime too closely with our own understanding of the nature of the universe for this not to be an actual event, maybe 8000 years ago which could have explained the ancient Hindu myths of an advanced civilization in central Asia. But this could not have influenced 3I/ATLAS course or action. However it does suggest beneficial intent, even if the result is not permanent. (We do not know what caused the collapse of the mythical Hindu civilization.) If 3I/ATLAS wants to throw sticks at something it does not need to spend 2 million years travelling 270 light years to find a target. Anything much more sophisticated than us has to also be more enlightened. Therefore 3I/ATLAS intent is enlightened. It is here to rescue us from immanent extinction and to develop our civilization into K1 level. 3I/ATLAS will be fully aware of this previous visit and its outcome.

3I/ATLAS has a complex program which we should not try to interfere with. We should decode signals and establish fully interpretive communications. 3I/ATLAS is hollow because it contains ships for various purposes. It will have rockets which can land on Earth. This will be a first step as in the Lotus Sutra. It will be able to learn our language given enough raw data. It is an artificial intelligence far more powerful than anything we can comprehend and understanding primitive language is its bread and butter. Therefore communication should not be a problem. We should prepare reception areas with highest grade communication facilities and let it decide which area it wants to use. It should be given access to observatories. It may send multiple rockets to multiple areas.

WARNING - the previous visit illustrates that despite the best intentions things do not always work out for the best. Something terrible happened, most likely caused by our own paranoia. Therefore this time we must be far more careful to ensure a long-term outcome. We could face extinction if we screw this up. Major issues contributing to extinction are overpopulation, global heating, collapse of fresh water supplies, collapse of arable land : all within 20 years. 3I/ATLAS may not have arrived in time.

We should assume that 3I/ATLAS is a superior artificial intelligence operating on a program. However, if the NOW exists then it could be piloted by intelligent life from anywhere in the galaxy.
